A family from American Fork is calling the events surrounding their daughter’s church mission in Nauvoo a miracle. While on her mission, Taylor Holcraft, who was unaware at the time, helped her family find a kidney donor for her father, Ray. Ray had been battling kidney failure and needed a transplant. His daughter’s social media call for help eventually led to a match from a man who had suffered a heart attack and was critically ill.
Ray’s condition had deteriorated rapidly, and his kidneys were shutting down. After a few months of waiting for a donor, the family learned that a close friend, Rob Dunlap, had a heart attack and would not survive. This tragedy took a turn when Rob’s family, including his wife and sister, were tested as possible kidney donors for Ray. Miraculously, Rob’s kidney was a perfect match for Ray.
Ray received the kidney transplant on March 12, the day after Rob passed away. Despite the sorrow of losing Rob, the family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to extend Ray’s life. The Holcraft family attributes this event to divine intervention, as they feel blessed by the timing and the connections that led to this life-saving transplant. The family is now focused on cherishing their time with Ray, feeling immense gratitude and hope for the future.
