October 13 marked a significant day for many, with one patient successfully receiving a cornea transplant after a challenging two-month wait. This story echoes the struggles of over 16,000 individuals nationwide awaiting organ donations, with more than 2,000 registered for kidney transplants alone within the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social.

At the Hospital de Especialidades and Centro Médico Nacional Manuel Ávila Camacho, also known as San José, a beacon of hope shines brightly. In just the last year, the facility accomplished an impressive 95 kidney transplants, with 35 already completed in early 2025. The dedicated team here works tirelessly, performing vital procedures such as corneal and kidney transplants, as well as hematopoietic stem cell transplants, to restore life and vitality to their patients.
