Berlin Bioprinting Startup Secures 10 Million To Advance Vascularized Tissue Implants

WORLD NEWS – GERMANY: Berlin-based startup Celicks has secured another 10 million in funding to accelerate a proprietary 3D bioprinting platform that fabricates vascularized tissue intended for therapeutic implantation. The infusion of capital will push the company’s lead programs toward pre-clinical and early clinical development as it seeks to translate lab constructs into implantable grafts.

Celicks’ technology aims to solve one of the thorniest problems in tissue engineering: creating a viable blood supply inside printed tissues so they survive and integrate after implantation. By producing vascularized constructs, the company hopes to enable functional tissue replacement that can withstand physiological demands, a crucial step before human transplantation trials.

Functional tissue replacement is a growing bottleneck in both longevity medicine and standard clinical care. Beyond slowing aging, patients still face organ and tissue failure with limited choices beyond donor organ procurement and transplantation; scalable bioprinted tissues could reduce that dependency and expand options for patients waiting for transplants.

If Celicks’ vascularization approach proves robust in pre-clinical testing, it could reshape outcomes in areas such as kidney transplantation, liver support and endocrine tissue loss. The new funding is explicitly targeted at advancing the science and regulatory groundwork needed to move toward early clinical evaluation and eventual therapeutic use.
