Anna Fleming, who received a liver transplant at just eight months old, is now a nurse at Cleveland Clinic’s transplant team, using her journey to advocate for organ donation. As National Donor Day coincides with Valentine’s Day, she highlights its significance, especially with over 2,100 children currently on the national transplant waiting list.
Born with a liver condition, Fleming never expected to work in the transplant field but sees it as a full-circle moment. “I’m living proof of what organ donation can do,” she says, emphasizing the opportunities it provides and the impact donors have on saving lives.
She encourages more people to register as donors, noting that many overlook its importance when asked at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). For Fleming, honoring her donor is a lifelong mission, and she urges others to consider the life-changing impact of organ donation.
