KENYA: Surge in Organ Transplants Sparks Outcry Over Foreign Doctors and Exploitative Practices

WORLD NEWS – KENYA: A staggering medical scandal has erupted in Kenya, unveiling an alleged organ trafficking operation involving foreign doctors. The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has come forward, accusing these practitioners of exploiting the country’s healthcare system. According to KMPDU Secretary General Davji Attella, evidence points to foreign nationals conducting illicit kidney transplants, with organs reportedly trafficked to other foreigners.

This alarming revelation starkly highlights the dominance of foreign doctors in Kenya, as they purportedly overshadow local medical practitioners. Medill Hospital has become a focal point, with a review revealing that out of 37 specialists, an overwhelming 31 are foreigners. This situation is reflective of a broader trend in the nation’s hospitals, where private and missionary establishments are accused of prioritizing foreign hires under exploitative conditions.

In response to these allegations, KMPDU has called for drastic measures, urging the dissolution of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) due to its alleged ineffectiveness and political meddling. Deputy Secretary General Dr. Dennis Mskeella has voiced the union’s frustration, demanding an audit of all foreign doctors within the country. The union’s bold stance seeks accountability and transparency in tackling these severe issues.

The KMPDU has also aligned itself with Cabinet Secretary Adam Duale’s recent call to freeze the hiring of foreign doctors, aiming to restore credibility and order within the medical profession. This support underscores the union’s commitment to protecting Kenyan healthcare and thwarting any practices that jeopardize the welfare of patients and the integrity of medical institutions across the nation.
