Community Mourns Fourth Grader Who Will Donate Organs After Highway 67 School Crash

USA: Oconomowoc is reeling after a fourth grader from Meadowview Elementary died Wednesday when the car he was riding in was rear-ended on Highway 67 while en route to school. The Oconomowoc School District identified the boy as Jack O’Donovan, and a roadside memorial at Highway 67 and McMahon Road has grown as neighbors gather to grieve.

The child’s older brother and sister were also in the vehicle; authorities say they were not seriously injured. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and whether speeding or driver inattention were factors. Community leaders and residents have called for immediate safety improvements at the intersection.

The child’s family announced he will be an organ donor, a decision that will move forward with organ procurement efforts to enable life-saving transplants. State Representative Barb Dittrich has demanded a meeting with the Department of Transportation to discuss safety fixes, including a possible roundabout, after DOT records showed at least seven crashes at the intersection since 2021.
