Kobe isn’t giving up, and neither should we!
Jakobe, nicknamed “Kobe,” is an 8-year-old boy who is diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Kobe, because he is a Black patient, has only a 23 percent chance of finding a match for a bone marrow transplant to help save his life.
A few weeks back, Kobe’s family helped organize a donor drive in Oldsmar to find a match.
Word has spread as the family has worked tirelessly around the state of Florida seeking a match to help give Kobe a chance at life, but they have yet to find anyone.
Meanwhile, Kobe’s family is organizing another donor drive, this one coming at Westshore Plaza on both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 44, you can qualify as a donor; all you need to do is fill out a questionnaire, and have a cheek swab sample taken! That’s it!! You don’t even have to get out of your car!
Or text KOBE to 61474 to join the Be the Match registry, and save Kobe’s or perhaps someone else’s life.
Now a couple of Tampa Bay Rays, Brett Phillips and Kevin Kiermaier, have posted inspirational messages to Kobe on the “Home Run for Kobe” Facebook page!
