perspectives on life tonight Alex glaze
has a story about two once bitter
opponents in the competitive world of P
who are now connected for
life more than a decade ago James Harris
won an all expenses pay trip to Las
Vegas from a high stakes pool tournament
as he celebrated one of the other
players accused him of cheating he
posted uh a nice long nasty message on
Facebook um talking about how I was uh I
was cheating they call it sandbagging
Russ redhead is the player who made the
accusation he since apologized and
become a part of James’s pool family but
for 3 years James kept a secret from his
pool family he was quietly fighting for
his life I got covid um in December 2020
and it caused a blood clot which sent me
into uh renal failure James was on
dialysis and in desperate need of a
kidney transplant after finding out she
would be unable to donate herself
James’s wife Denise posted this message
on Facebook to share his story in hopes
of inspiring someone else to consider
donating your life expectancy drops
tremendously when you’re on dialysis cuz
it’s hard on the heart um your bones um
some people don’t make it the first year
and there was a time James wasn’t sure
he would make it it was pretty tough
I’m just just glad I’m beyond it Russ
redhead James’s onetime pool enemy is
the donor who saved his life if I was in
the same situation I would want somebody
else to step up for me he was like
family you know being in the in the pool
world but now he’s more like a brother
you know for stepping up and doing
something like that and now Russ is
calling on others to go through the
testing process to potentially save
someone else’s life we all need help
sometimes and everybody needs help in a
different way I was really just trying
to do the right thing and Glenn Bernie
