WORLD NEWS – MEXICO: The Hospital Civil Juan Menchaca in Guadalajara has achieved a remarkable milestone in organ and tissue transplantation, fulfilling its annual goal from the previous year and aiming for even greater accomplishments in 2025. In just under six months, the hospital has facilitated five multi-organ and seven multi-tissue donations, marking significant progress. One exemplary case involved a family who, despite their grief, chose to donate their loved one’s organs and tissues, leading to the fifth multi-organ and seventh tissue donation of the year.
This generous donation included two kidneys, a liver, a cornea, and musculoskeletal tissue, providing critical support to an estimated 150 to 200 patients in dire need of transplants. Elix Barajas, the organ procurement coordinator, emphasized the substantial impact of such donations, explaining how bone tissue can be processed into various forms, enabling hundreds of individuals to access essential life-saving treatments.
The recent transplants benefited several patients from the historic Hospital Civil in Guadalajara, underscoring the collaborative efforts among local medical facilities to maximize the reach of these noble acts.
