WORLD NEWS – KENYA: Victims of kidney trafficking in ELDOR, Wasingishu County have come forward with chilling accounts of deception that led them to donate their kidneys for cash. During a session with the National Assembly Health Committee, two victims, Emanuel Kiposke and Ammon Kiputo, revealed the harrowing details of their ordeal, disclosing that they were preyed upon by a malicious network operating across multiple hospitals in Eldor.
Kiposke recounted how he was lured into this sinister scheme, initially enticed by the promise of quick financial gain. Alongside thirteen others, he found himself trapped in a deceptive meeting set in a residential area, where a supposed doctor convinced them to undergo tests at a local hospital. After an extensive three-week examination, they were shuffled to another facility in Nairobi for further procedures, all while being issued false identities to obscure the illicit nature of their actions.
Kiputo shared similar sentiments, revealing that desperate financial circumstances clouded his judgment. The construction job that sustained him fell woefully short of meeting his needs. When a friend introduced him to this troubling opportunity, he leapt without fully comprehending the legal labyrinth into which he was stepping. Tragically, just days post-transplant, he found himself entangled in further complications, facing arrest on accusations of involvement in an illegal enterprise.
The committee’s investigations extend beyond the victims, questioning police officials and the management of the Medill Group of Hospitals, highlighting the need for justice and accountability for all involved in this nefarious organ trafficking ring. The shocking testimonies serve as a stark reminder of the dark underbelly of transplantation in the region, urging swift action to protect the vulnerable.
