Wyoming Driver Services Push Organ Donor Registration Ahead Of National Donate Life Month

Donor Alliance, which coordinates organ, eye and tissue donation in Colorado and most of Wyoming, says the majority of registrations come through driver services and that the partnership with the Wyoming Department of Transportation has been pivotal.

Officials note that over 90% of people who register as donors do so at driver services, where customers can opt in when obtaining or renewing a license. Residents also may register online through the state donor registry, making the sign-up process simple and immediate at the point of transaction.

The state’s Donate Life license plate is another visible way to support donation; residents can request the plate through the state program and pick it up at their local county treasurer’s office. Driver services staff say the program and the plate help raise awareness about transplantation and the practical steps people can take to indicate their wishes.

Organ, eye and tissue donor registrations directly increase the pool available for transplantation and support timely procurement for surgical teams. With demand for transplants outpacing supply, officials urge eligible residents to register or confirm their status so more lives can be saved through donation.
