Singing River, Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency Honor Coast Donors With Three Flag-Raising Ceremonies

USA: Singing River Health System and the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency joined forces in April to honor organ donors across the Gulf Coast with three flag-raising ceremonies in Gulfport, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula during National Donate Life Month. The events aimed to spotlight the lifesaving role of organ and tissue donation and to encourage donor registration.

Hospital staff, transplant coordinators and donor families attended the ceremonies, which focused on the critical link between donor generosity, organ procurement and successful transplantation. Organizers emphasized how coordinated procurement efforts enable timely transplant surgeries and how donations translate into renewed health for recipients across multiple transplant programs.

Beyond celebrating donors, the gatherings included education on both organ and tissue donation for transplantation, and on pathways for people to register as donors. Organizers noted that even a single healthy tissue donor can provide opportunities to restore vision, mobility and quality of life through transplantation and related therapies.
