The challenge pits agencies against one another to see who can do the most donor-registration outreach this month. Metro is the most recent winner of the contest, and participating officers framed the competition as a way to amplify a deeply personal mission: organ donation’s impact often reaches colleagues and neighbors directly rather than merely earning trophies.

Organ donation has already connected unexpected matches among first responders, with some officers learning that they were matched to others in need and able to give. Organ and tissue transplantation remains urgent in Nevada: nearly 700 people across the state are waiting for an organ transplant today, organizers said, underscoring why registration and public outreach remain central to the campaign.

Organizers say the Silver State Heroes Challenge will continue through National Donate Life Month with expanded outreach across the valley and statewide, urging residents to register as organ donors and learn how donation and procurement enable life-saving transplants.
