‘It Was Just A No-Brainer To Help Help’ | Killeen 21-Year-Old Saves Mom’s Life With Kidney Donation

In a touching story from Central Texas, a daughter has saved her mother’s life through a kidney donation. Mary Jane Horen, diagnosed with a genetic kidney condition in 2016, discovered in 2022 that her kidney function had plummeted to just 7%. With the wait for a transplant uncertain, her 21-year-old daughter, Rosemary, stepped in as the perfect donor match.

On March 27th, both underwent successful procedures at Baylor Scott and White. Rosemary, now fully healed and bearing a scar as a symbol of her love, expressed that the decision to donate was straightforward and driven by her desire to help her mother. Mary Jane is now pursuing her dream of retiring to the Philippines with her husband Dave, while returning to Central Texas for follow-up care. This heartwarming act of love has allowed Mary Jane to look forward to a healthier, happier future.
