Colorado Man Donates Kidney To Sister Who Survived Cancer

A month ago, Castle Rock resident Andrea received a life-changing gift from her brother Ross—a new kidney. The siblings, known for their close bond, shared their story with Douglas County Reporter Olivia Young, highlighting the importance of organ donation.

Andrea, a fourth-grade teacher, started feeling unusually fatigued two years ago. Medical tests revealed she had blood cancer, requiring chemotherapy, which successfully fought the cancer but left her needing a kidney transplant. Without hesitation, Ross offered his kidney, and after extensive testing, he was found to be a perfect match. The transplant surgery took place on April 23rd, and while Andrea’s recovery has been challenging, her kidney function has significantly improved. The siblings, now closer than ever, urge others to consider organ donation, emphasizing its potential to save lives.
