Jordan Hensley, an East Tennessee woman in dire need of a heart transplant, has officially been placed on the transplant list at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Since February, Hensley has been seeking a new heart. Initially, Vanderbilt denied her placement on the transplant list, leaving her and her family in a desperate search for another hospital willing to help.
Hensley was originally placed on the level four transplant list. However, after experiencing seizure-like attacks this past weekend, she was admitted to the hospital and moved to level one on the transplant list. Hensley will remain on an ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) machine until a matching heart becomes available. Her mother hopes that a suitable donor heart could be found by the end of the week.
