A well-known Albany chef, Yono Purnomo, has successfully undergone a kidney transplant. Yono’s son, Dominic, announced that the surgery was performed at New York Presbyterian in Manhattan and expressed deep gratitude for the hospital’s kidney transplant team.
Last April, Yono was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure and was informed by doctors that the wait for a transplant could be five to seven years. However, thanks to a generous donor, whom Dominic called an “angel walking this Earth,” Yono received the much-needed transplant, bringing relief and hope to his family and community.
The Purnomo family is thankful for the support and care provided by the medical team and the selfless act of the donor, marking a joyous moment for those who know and love the celebrated chef.
