Jessica Bio, a 28-year-old from Connecticut, is appealing for a living kidney donor after enduring a lifelong battle with kidney disease. Having been born with chronic kidney disease and starting dialysis at just three years old, Jessica has faced numerous medical challenges, including two kidney transplants. The first transplant, from a deceased donor, lasted 20 years, while a second transplant in 2022 from her father was rejected just weeks after surgery. With her health now in stage five renal failure, doctors have advised that a living donor is her last hope.
Despite the overwhelming obstacles, Jessica remains optimistic. She credits her family, especially her supportive sisters and father, for their unwavering encouragement throughout her medical journey. Jessica continues to pursue her education, currently working towards a master’s degree in recreational therapy, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity. “This has been my life since as long as I can remember,” she said, highlighting the importance of her family’s support.
Jessica is now actively seeking potential donors, emphasizing the life-saving impact of organ donation. She encourages anyone interested in helping to consider getting tested, as they may be a match for her or for someone else in need.
