Young Girl Receives Life-Saving Liver Transplant From Mother At Upmc Children’S Hospital.

A 5-year-old girl named Adleigh Byce from Alabama recently traveled to Pittsburgh to receive a life-saving liver transplant. Adleigh was diagnosed with biliary atresia at just seven weeks old and had been in and out of the hospital since. However, when it was determined she needed a liver transplant, her mother Haley, who is a nurse, decided that a living donor transplant was the best option. After getting tested, Haley discovered she was a perfect match for her daughter and decided to choose UPMC Children’s Hospital for the procedure. Both Adleigh and Haley are recovering well after the transplant, which marked the hospital’s 200th living donor liver transplant.

Now that Adleigh is feeling better, she has big plans for the future. She wants to play with her dog, ride her bike, and play with her Barbie dolls and baby dolls. The family hopes to return to their home in Alabama soon, and Adleigh also hopes to participate in pageants again, which she loves. The successful transplant has given them hope for a bright future and a chance to move forward with life.
