Son saves father’s life with stem cell donation

Central Texas’ blood provider, We Are Blood, is calling for urgent blood donations during National Blood Donor Month. After the holidays, donations tend to slow down as people return to work and school. Currently, the blood bank is in dire need of Type O blood. With this shortage, We Are Blood is urging Central Texans to step up and give the gift of life.

For one Round Rock family, the importance of blood and platelet donations hits close to home. Scott Anderson, a father diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, underwent a second stem cell transplant last December. His son, William, decided to donate his own stem cells to support his father. Scott Anderson emphasizes the lifesaving impact of blood and platelet transfusions, expressing gratitude to donors who played a crucial role in saving his life.

This heartwarming story reveals the power of generosity from both strangers and family members. Scott Anderson’s clear bone marrow biopsy results are a testament to the positive impact of blood and platelet donations. To meet the urgent need for Type O blood, We Are Blood is urging Central Texans to come forward and help save lives.
