Keith Jones, a funeral director at Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball, will meet Jennifer Kaufman, a Colorado woman who donated a kidney to him in October 2023. The meeting will take place at the funeral home during the National Donate Life event, which aims to raise awareness about the need for organ donors. According to Donate Life, there are currently over 100,000 people on the national transplant list. Jones, who has had diabetes for 49 years, had been waiting for a kidney for four years before a living donor became available. Kaufman, who regularly donates blood and is on the bone marrow transplant list, decided to donate her kidney after hearing about a Colorado woman in need. Both Jones and Kaufman have recovered well from the surgery, and Jones has expressed his gratitude to Kaufman for changing his life. The hope is that their stories will inspire others to consider becoming living donors.
