A woman born with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome has given birth to her first child. Mallory, the first patient to give birth through the use of a uterus transplant program outside of a clinical trial, received a uterus after being told for decades she would be unable to carry a child. The successful birth by the University of Alabama (UAB)’s uterus transplant program helps expand options for women and couples who struggled with fertility challenges and offers hope for those previously deemed infertile due to uterine factor infertility.
