Round Rock Boy’S Stem Cell Donation Saves Father’S Life

In honor of National Blood Donor Month, We Are Blood, Central Texas’ sole blood provider, is urgently in need of Type O blood donations. Donations typically decrease after the holidays, as people return to work and school. We Are Blood emphasizes the importance of blood and platelet donations in saving lives, as demonstrated by Scott Anderson, a Round Rock resident who credits his son and other donors for saving his life. In 2019, Anderson was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, similar to leukemia, and underwent a stem cell transplant in 2020. However, he relapsed two years later and underwent a second transplant in December 2021, with his son as a donor. Anderson’s story serves as a testament to the impact of generosity and familial support in overcoming life-threatening conditions.
