Wade McCall was born with a severe condition that required a kidney transplant. His parents, Erin and Phil McCall, had to relocate to Cincinnati for six months so that Wade could receive treatment in the NICU. To assist with the financial burden, Erin’s sister, Hannah Leitten, became a community coordinator for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), a national charity that helps individuals in need of life-saving transplants. Through COTA, they have raised over $32,000 of their $60,000 goal to cover transplant-related expenses.
After months of tests, Erin learned that she could donate her kidney to Wade, and they underwent the life-saving procedure in August. While kidney transplants typically last 12-25 years, Wade will require additional transplants throughout his life. The McCall family plans to share their experience and highlight the importance of helping others. All funds raised will be given to COTA on behalf of Wade for his transplant-related expenses.
