OneLegacy’s Rose Parade Float Honors Organ Transplant Donors, Recipients; Celebrates Lives Saved Nationwide

In a touching tribute to organ and tissue donation, a float at the iconic Tournament of Roses Parade aims to highlight the life-saving impacts of these selfless acts. Among the eye-catching displays, one float stands out, dedicated to the heroes who have given or received the gift of life. This gesture underscores the critical importance of organ donations, with more than 100,000 people on the national transplant waiting list, eagerly hoping for a chance at renewed life.

At the heart of this poignant ceremony is Liary Elae Jones, a living organ donor who, 15 years ago, donated part of her liver to save an infant girl named Jaye. Now a thriving teenager, Jaye regards Jones as a maternal figure, deeply grateful for having received a new lease on life. Their story of gratitude and second chances epitomizes the float’s theme, “Let Your Life Soar.”

OneLegacy, the procurement organization behind the float, will honor 14 deceased donors, celebrating their profound impact. Through their generous gifts, these individuals have saved more than 50 lives and healed countless others. A special mention goes to donors as young as two years old, like Sire Porche, whose organs were donated after his untimely passing from an accidental drowning. His parents take pride in knowing their son’s legacy has given life to others.

Also featured on the float is Angel Dominguez from the Iowa Donor Network. Having received a heart transplant 32 years ago, Dominguez will represent the network, nominated by her sister. Meanwhile, the memory of organ donor Joshua Brennan is preserved through his inclusion on the float. His family will join in the celebration, cherishing their loved one’s enduring contributions.

This tribute at the Rose Parade is more than just a visual spectacle—it is an inspiring call to action for more people to consider organ donation, promising life and hope to those in need.
