Jeremiah Robbins, born to Clashaud and Arvela Robbins, faced a challenging start to life. After an exciting pregnancy, the couple learned that their son, their miracle baby, would be born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a rare heart condition where one side of the heart does not develop properly. Just after birth, Jeremiah was rushed to the NICU, where he underwent open heart surgery at only three days old. Unfortunately, complications led to heart failure, leaving a heart transplant as his last option for survival.
Jeremiah’s parents, devastated by the uncertainty, faced months of waiting. In the ICU for four months, they desperately hoped for a heart transplant. Finally, at eight months old, they received the life-changing news: a heart had been found for Jeremiah. His doctors confirmed that it was a good match, and the transplant was scheduled. The Robbins family, overwhelmed with relief and joy, celebrated their son’s second chance at life.
As part of the fundraising efforts for Make-A-Wish Nebraska, the Robbins family’s story highlights the incredible journey of organ donation and its life-saving impact. Jeremiah’s story serves as an example of hope and the importance of organ donation in the fight for life, bringing attention to both the fragility and strength of the human spirit in the face of medical challenges.
