Okc Resident Receives Life-Saving Liver Transplant At Integris Health

April is Donate Life Month, dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of organ donation. One Oklahoma City man, Rudy Erb, knows firsthand the impact of organ donation on saving lives. Erb received a liver transplant a decade ago after being diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). In a heartfelt letter, Erb expressed his gratitude to the family of his organ donor, acknowledging the sorrow they must feel and emphasizing the profound gift of life he received. Erb’s transplant was a success, and he is now enjoying time with his family and embracing each day with gratitude. As a token of his appreciation, Erb promised to pay the gift of life forward.

Erb’s experience highlights the importance of organ donation and the impact it can have on individuals and their families. Last year, Erb became the 109th liver recipient at Integris Health’s Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute. The institute has seen a record-breaking 111 liver transplants in total. Erb encourages others to consider becoming organ donors and directs interested individuals to visit lifeshareoklahoma.org for more information.

Overall, Erb’s story serves as a reminder of the life-changing impact of organ donation and the power of gratitude and giving back.
