COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Evan Mahaffey, a basketball player for Ohio State, received good news as his father, Jamie Mahaffey, successfully underwent a heart transplant. Jamie had been waiting for a heart transplant for some time, and his condition had been affecting Evan throughout the basketball season. Although Evan’s father was a regular at his games, he was unable to attend the most recent one due to undergoing the operation. However, Evan’s sister, Danielle, shared that their father is improving and responding positively to comments after the surgery, which took place at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Jamie will remain in the hospital for two more weeks before spending six to eight weeks in Nashville for recovery.
Danielle also mentioned that she, Evan, and their younger brother Eric are planning to visit their father in Nashville and eagerly anticipate the trip. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support their family with medical bills and travel expenses during this time. Danielle expressed gratitude for any contributions, as it will help alleviate the financial burden on the family while simultaneously caring for their father’s health. Ultimately, this heart transplant brings hope for Jamie Mahaffey’s future and allows his family to look forward to his continued recovery.
