Life-Saving Gift: Capital Region Chef Undergoes Successful Kidney Transplant

Beloved Capital Region chef and philanthropist, Yono Purnomo, has received a kidney transplant from a living donor, according to an update from his family. Purnomo had been in search of a kidney for several months after being diagnosed with end-stage renal failure in 2023. His surgery took place at New York City’s Presbyterian Hospital on Tuesday and both Purnomo and the donor are said to be recovering well. Purnomo’s family expressed their gratitude for the support and prayers they have received throughout this process.

Purnomo’s health and his experience with dialysis multiple times a day were recently discussed in an interview with NEWS10’s Trishna Begam. The renowned chef’s search for a kidney captured the attention of the community, and the news of the successful transplant brings hope and relief to his loved ones and supporters.
