Lubbock resident Angel Espinoza recently shared his experience of undergoing two kidney transplants and urged others to become organ donors. Espinoza was diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 14 and received his first kidney transplant a year later, donated by one of his sisters who was a perfect match. After living a normal life for 20 years, his kidney failed, leading to a three-year period of dialysis and 1,758 hours on the machine. Doctors informed him that it would take seven to eight years for him to receive a new kidney due to his blood type. However, in December 2022, Espinoza received the Christmas miracle of a kidney transplant. He hopes his story will raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, as there are many others, including young children, in need of a kidney transplant.
