Dutch Patient With Cystinosis Seeks kidney Donor After Years On Dialysis

WORLD NEWS – NETHERLANDS: A 30-year-old man named Dylan, born with the rare disease cystinosis, has spent nearly four years on thrice-weekly dialysis and is urgently seeking a kidney transplant. He undergoes four-hour sessions three times a week, during which a machine cleans his blood and returns it to his body, a regimen that has become his daily reality.

Dylan says donor scarcity has stalled his chance for transplantation. He is O positive and cannot accept an organ from his mother because their blood types do not match. He is registered on the transplant waiting list and has mounted repeated social media appeals, but so far no compatible living donor has come forward. Medical compatibility and careful organ procurement are central to any successful living-donor transplant.

The physical toll of dialysis is relentless: taxi rides to the clinic, weight checks, needle access that leaves painful bumps, and strict fluid limits because he can no longer urinate. The treatment routine leaves little time or energy for study or normal social life, and he hopes a transplant will restore opportunities he has had to postpone.

Dylan is asking specifically for people with blood type O positive or O negative who are willing to be evaluated as potential living donors. He remains engaged with medical teams and the waiting list, and is appealing to the public for a match that could renew his ability to live beyond survival and pursue education and ordinary everyday activities.
