Iowa local’s life-saving kidney transplant made possible by loyal friend

The owner of Winn’s Pizza in Norwalk, Andrew Sayasane, is expressing gratitude after a friend’s fiancé answered his plea for a life-saving kidney transplant. Sayasane, who suffers from a kidney disease that has rendered his current kidneys less than 7% effective, had previously spoken about his condition in July. Lainie Fox surprised Sayasane earlier this month by revealing that she was a match for his transplant. Fox’s motivation to help came from the loss of her father to kidney disease. Sayasane is amazed by Fox’s dedication and the extensive testing she underwent. The transplant is scheduled for December 4 in Iowa City, with a benefit hosted by the Norwalk Knights of Columbus to assist with Sayasane’s medical costs.
