Houston-based Triumphant Church honored two women, Courtney Hicks-Brown and Cande Calhoun, for their resilience after surviving heart failure and undergoing heart transplants. Both women are now raising awareness about the disease, coinciding with American Heart Month in February. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 6.2 million people in the United States have heart failure. Hicks-Brown, who lived with a failing heart for over a decade, expressed her gratitude for receiving a new heart two years ago. Calhoun, celebrating her five-year Transplantaversary, credits her turning point to surrendering to God and keeping her health a priority. Both women emphasized the importance of regular checkups and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to fight against heart disease. They also highlighted the significant role of their support systems in their journeys.
