Forsyth County Mom Receives Life-Saving Liver Transplant After 2 Years

Ashley Payne, a mother from Forsyth County, North Carolina, received a Christmas miracle after waiting for a liver transplant for two years. Payne had been diagnosed with two rare liver diseases a decade ago, which eventually led to liver failure. She spent several days at Duke Hospital, checking in and out while waiting for her transplant. In September, after being on the transplant list for six months, Payne finally received the call she had been waiting for and underwent successful surgery on September 26th. She is now recovering quickly and hopes to get back to her passion for doing hair. Payne is grateful to the organ donor who saved her life and wants to someday meet the donor’s family. Additionally, she plans to start a volunteer organization with other stylists to provide haircuts and beauty services to patients in hospitals.
