Forsyth County Mom Receives Life-Saving Liver Transplant After 2-Year Wait

Ashley Payne, a 36-year-old mother from Forsyth County, North Carolina, has received a Christmas miracle after waiting for a liver transplant for the past two years. Payne was diagnosed with two rare liver diseases ten years ago, which eventually led her to liver failure. After spending her days checking in and out of Duke Hospital, she was finally placed on the transplant list and received a new liver on September 26th. Payne has been recovering quickly, surpassing her doctors’ expectations, and credits her son for being her inspiration. She is looking forward to spending time with her loved ones this holiday season and plans to get back to her passion for doing hair in the new year. Payne wants to express her gratitude to the organ donor’s family and hopes to meet them one day. She also has plans to start a volunteer organization that provides haircuts and other beauty needs to hospital patients.
