Fairhaven Local Triumphs Over Surgery, Embracing New Life Post Heart Transplant

Fairhaven native Tim Christ is back home in New Hampshire with his wife Meghan and their daughter Holly after undergoing heart transplant surgery in December. Although Tim is stable and recovering, the family still needs to travel to Boston every few weeks for follow-up procedures. Tim is expected to return to work later this year, while Meghan will not be able to work until Tim becomes more independent at home.

Adjusting to their new normal has not been easy for the Christ family, but they are grateful for the support they have received from their community. Tim’s sister, Hanna, expressed relief and happiness that Tim is doing well and back home with his family. However, there is still a long recovery ahead for Tim as he mentally and physically adjusts to his new life post-transplant.

In an effort to alleviate the family’s financial burden, a GoFundMe page has raised over $40,000 out of its $50,000 goal. Donations are still being accepted to support the Christ family’s medical debt, as well as travel, living, and childcare expenses. Additionally, a charitable giveaway organized by family friend Melanie Perry will contribute to the GoFundMe, with over 20 prizes from local South Coast businesses. The raffle drawing will take place on Leap Day, February 29th.
