The 16th annual Donate Life Family Fun Run is set to take place in downtown Baltimore, featuring both a 5K run and walk, as well as a 1K walk. The event, organized by Infinite Legacy, aims to honor and support organ, eye, and tissue donors from the area. Attendees can expect a family-friendly atmosphere with various activities including a DJ, photo booths, face painting, and an array of food trucks. This event not only provides a fun day out but also raises awareness about the critical need for organ donations, as highlighted by community members like Kim Durham, who shares her personal connection to organ donation following the sudden loss of her husband.

The need for donations remains urgent, with over 4,000 individuals currently awaiting life-saving organ transplants in Maryland and the Metro DC area. Nationally, the number exceeds 100,000 people. Yet, as highlighted by the stories of donors and their families, one donor has the potential to save up to eight lives through organ donation and can enhance the lives of over 70 others through tissue donation.

Those inspired to contribute can participate in the event by registering for the 5K or 1K races, or even opting for virtual participation. Donations are also welcomed and can be made via the Donate Life Fun Run website. The organizers aim to have at least one participant in honor of each person on the waitlist, creating a powerful symbol of support and community spirit.
