Highlighting the celebrations, Shannon Walling shared her late husband Jay’s story. A longtime DMV employee, Jay passed away suddenly in September 2023. Despite her grief, Shannon decided to donate Jay’s corneas, which provided a life-changing sight restoration to a US veteran in Minnesota. Remarkably, Jay’s likeness will be commemorated on the Donate Life float at the 2025 Tournament of Roses Parade.

Her journey led to a six-person donor exchange, highlighting the ripple effect one individual’s generosity can create. Patricia’s transformative experience not only improved Cathy’s life but also catalyzed her own holistic health improvement, underscoring the life-altering potential and personal fulfillment that organ donation entails.
As the event concluded with Shannon completing her husband’s floragraph, the enduring message was clear.
