It was an emotional meeting between two families at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. As Brooke Eaton cradled Lola Bonds in her arms, she pressed a stethoscope to the little girl’s chest and heard her late son’s heart beating.

Eaton’s son, Cazmirr “Cash” Landers, died in 2018 after drowning in a pool. But Eaton turned her grief into hope for the Bonds family, who were desperately looking for a heart transplant for Lola. Cash’s heart saved Lola’s life.
